The Master's Academy Eagles will square off against the Orangewood Christian Rams at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Master's Academy is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.6 runs per game this season.
Last Wednesday, Master's Academy made easy work of Lake Highland Prep and carried off a 7-1 victory. The win continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Highlanders: they've now won four in a row.
The team relied heavily on Lauren McMeel, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March. Karina Morales was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.
Meanwhile, Orangewood Christian fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Lyman on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Greyhounds by a score of 16-15. The Rams have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Harper Katauskas and Mercedes Evers stepped up to the plate in a big way. Katauskas went 3-for-5 with two runs, two RBI, and one double, while Evers went 3-for-5 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Evers also put up a double, which was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Hadleigh Weis, who went 2-for-5 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Master's Academy now has a winning record of 12-11. As for Orangewood Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-8.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Master's Academy has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Orangewood Christian struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 4.3 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Master's Academy might still be hurting after the 18-12 loss they got from Orangewood Christian when the teams last played back in March. Can the Eagles avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
