Softball Recap: Roosevelt Makes It Eight in a Row at Home

Roosevelt waltzed into their contest on Tuesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They never let the Ida B. Wells Guardians get on the board and left with a 10-0 victory. Considering the Roughriders have won nine matches by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Ruby Frish made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out nine over five innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with two runs and one RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Annabella Murphy, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March. Elliot Neves was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and one RBI.

Roosevelt hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their strikeout total in three consecutive games.

Roosevelt's win was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-7. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Ida B. Wells, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-14.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Roosevelt will challenge rival McDaniel at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Ida B. Wells is set to square off against their familiar foe Grant at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
