The Pompano Beach Golden Tornadoes's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They were dealt a 75-42 defeat at the hands of Taravella. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Pompano Beach has scored all season.
Pompano Beach lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Devin Watson, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds. Those 13 points set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Brayden Bunn, who scored 12 points along with three steals.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Taravella to victory, but perhaps none more so than Camden Fearon, who scored 18 points along with seven assists and five rebounds. The game was Fearon's fifth in a row with at least ten points. Andres Demoya was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with six rebounds and five blocks.
Pompano Beach bumped their record down to 1-5 with that defeat, which was their third straight at home. That rough patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.0 points per game. As for Taravella, their victory bumped their record up to 4-1.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Pompano Beach and Northeast will face off at 7:30 p.m. on December 12th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Northeast knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past six matchups -- so hopefully Pompano Beach likes a good challenge. As for Taravella, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Coconut Creek at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Coconut Creek will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings (they are ranked 701st, while Taravella is ranked 238th).
