Volleyball Recap: Hermann Takes a Loss

If Hermann was riding high fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Owensville on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Bearcats took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Sullivan Eagles on Thursday. The Bearcats were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Eagles apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in October of 2024.

Hermann started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The final score came out to 24-26, 25-11, 25-21, 25-17.

When it comes to explaining why Hermann lost, don't look at Jaelee Kahler. Despite the final result, she had three digs and one block. Kahler is also on a roll when it comes to assists, as she's now posted 13 or more in each of the last four games she's played. Brynlee Ash was another key player, getting nine assists and seven digs.

Andi Giebler was a one-woman wrecking crew For Sullivan. as she had 18 digs and two aces. With that strong performance, Giebler is now averaging an impressive 10 digs per game.

Hermann's loss dropped their record down to 11-11-1. As for Sullivan, they pushed their record up to 14-9-4 with the victory, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season.

Hermann wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 3-1 defeat against Helias on the 13th. As for Sullivan, they have also already played their next matchup, a 3-1 win against Washington on the 13th.
