West Branch has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will square off against The Moshannon Valley Black Knights/Damsels at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the pair will really light up the scoreboard.
Last Friday, West Branch strolled past Glendale with points to spare, taking the game 35-21.
Tyler Biggans continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, throwing for 338 yards and four touchdowns while completing 73.1% of his passes, and also punching in a touchdown on the ground. Biggans is on a roll when it comes to passing touchdowns, as he's now passed for three or more in the last three games he's played. Wyatt Schwiderske also helped out as he racked up 101 receiving yards.
Moshannon Valley fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back victories it seems like their luck might finally be changing. They blew past Claysburg-Kimmel, posting a 48-20 win at home. The result was nothing new for Moshannon Valley, who have now won three matchups by 27 points or more so far this season.
Moshannon Valley's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Micah Beish, who picked up 185 receiving yards and five touchdowns. Jc Smith got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Their wins bumped West Branch to 4-4 and Moshannon Valley to 5-3.
We should be in store for an exciting game Friday as both teams have no problem gaining yardage. West Branch has been on an offensive roll this season, having averaged 407.1 total yards per game. However, it's not like Moshannon Valley struggles in that department as they've been averaging 370.5 per game. With a pair of commanding offenses duking it out, the defenses are going to have their work cut out for them.
West Branch strolled past Moshannon Valley in their previous matchup back in October of 2022 by a score of 34-19. The rematch might be a little tougher for West Branch since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
