King Philip Regional (Wrentham, Mass.) came into Saturday's contest ranked No. 14 in Massachusetts, but was stunned by
Mansfield (Mass.), 46-33. Mansfield was ranked at No. 42 in the MaxPreps Freeman Rankings for Massachusetts coming into the week.
The Hornets were up 32-12 at the half after taking the lead on a
Robert Rapoza touchdown run in the first quarter.
Each side put up seven points during the third quarter, and the fourth quarter began with the margin still at 20.
Kyle Wisnieski was the top performer for Mansfield. The junior quarterback threw three touchdowns.
The Warriors came in giving up 5.0 points per game this season.
MHS also won the meeting between the two teams last season, 27-26.
The loss comes after King Philip Regional defeated Sharon 43-0 last week. With the win the Hornets extended their winning streak to four games.
In a Hockomock - Kelley/Rex game next week Mansfield (6-2) takes on North Attleborough, and King Philip Regional (6-1) will go up against Attleboro also in a Hockomock - Kelley/Rex game.
