Hebron barely beat Whiting the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Hawks' pitchers stepped up to hand the Oilers an 8-0 shutout on Saturday. The Hawks' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Pete Socci was excellent, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4. He also put up two RBI, which were his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Zac Peeler, who scored two runs and stole two bases.

Meanwhile, it was a Battle of the Birds when Hammond Academy of Science & Tech duked it out with South Shore Homeschool Athletics on Wednesday. The Hawks put the hurt on the Eagles with a sharp 17-0 win.

Hebron now has a winning record of 2-1-1. As for Hammond Academy of Science & Tech, their victory was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 1-0.

Everything went Hebron's way against Hammond Academy of Science & Tech when the teams last played back in April of 2024, as Hebron made off with a 14-2 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Hebron since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
