It was a good run, but Rankin unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Friday. Their2024 ended with a 44-30 loss against the Garden City Bearkats. While losing is never fun, the Red Devils can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 794th, while the Bearkats are ranked 332nd).

Rankin's defeat dropped their record down to 9-5. As for Garden City, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-2.

Coincidentally, both will both be playing Water Valley the next time they take the court. Rankin will head out to face Water Valley at 11:40 a.m. on Saturday, while Garden City will host them at 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
