The Waterloo Bulldogs will head out to challenge the Chester Yellowjackets at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Waterloo will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.
On Wednesday, Waterloo made easy work of Civic Memorial and carried off a 10-2 victory. The result was nothing new for the Bulldogs, who have now won six games by six runs or more so far this season.
Aidan Dintelman spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on two hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 12 consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Sam Juelfs, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. What's more, she posted two doubles, the most she's had since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Mallory Thompson, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Waterloo was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .433. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Civic Memorial only posted a batting average of .125.
Meanwhile, Chester wound up with the same score they had in their last game (7-3), but sadly the team found themselves on the wrong side of the score this time.
Chester saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Elaina Lutman, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run.
Waterloo pushed their record up to 11-2 with the win, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.7 runs over those games. As for Chester, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-5.
Friday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Waterloo hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .376. However, it's not like Chester struggles in that department as they've averaged .323. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Waterloo took their win against Chester when the teams last played back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 12-3 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bulldogs since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
