There's no place like home for the Smith Center Redmen, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Tuesday. They took down Republic County 53-35 on Thursday. For Smith Center, this counts as revenge for the 52-47 loss Republic County walked away with the last time they faced one another back in January of 2023.
Wyatt Overmiller was the offensive standout of the match as he scored 11 points along with five assists. Tegan McKenzie was another key contributor, scoring six points along with 14 rebounds and five blocks.
Smith Center's win bumped their record up to 4-8. As for Republic County, they are on a nine-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-10.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Smith Center won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Phillipsburg at 7:00 p.m. on January 26th. Hopefully Phillipsburg focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 last Tuesday. As for Republic County, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Beloit at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Beloit presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Republic County in Kansas (Beloit is ranked eighth, while Republic County is ranked 317th).
