In what's become a running theme this season, the Bayside Marlins gave their fans yet another huge win on Friday. They breezed by Tallwood on the road to the tune of 61-10. Given Bayside's advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 157th, while Tallwood is ranked 389th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Bayside's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Micala Poe led the charge by scoring 25 points along with six rebounds and four steals. Poe hasn't dropped below two steals for seven straight games. Another player making a difference was Jessie Ware, who scored 19 points along with six steals.
Despite the loss, Tallwood saw an underclassman step up: Laniyah Grady scored six points.
Bayside's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-7. They've been dominating during the games in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 37.33 points. As for Tallwood, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-13.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Bayside will take on Cox at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Cox comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 25 points in their last three games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse. As for Tallwood, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Landstown at 7:00 p.m.
