Baseball Game Preview: Eustis Panthers vs. Bishop Moore Hornets

Eustis hasn't had much luck against Bishop Moore recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Panthers will take on the Hornets at 7:00 p.m. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Eustis is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Wednesday. They skirted past Mount Dora 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Panthers have posted since March 11th.

The team relied heavily on Parker Yero, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and two runs. He is becoming a predictor of Eustis' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 9-11 when he doesn't).

Meanwhile, Bishop Moore came tearing into Wednesday's contest with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 3.8 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They never let the Panthers get on the board and left with a 9-0 win. Considering the Hornets have won 12 matchups by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Tony Castro looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

Bishop Moore's victory bumped their record up to 23-2. As for Eustis, their win bumped their record up to 14-11.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Thursday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. However, it's not like Bishop Moore struggles in that department as they've been averaging 8.6 strikeouts.
