Cary-Grove and Jacobs are an even 5-5 against one another since May of 2019, but likely not for long. The Trojans will host the Golden Eagles at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The two teams are strolling into their games after big wins in their previous games.
Cary-Grove had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the nine-run drubbing they dealt Lake Forest on Saturday. The Trojans put the hurt on the Scouts with a sharp 10-1 win. The result was nothing new for the Trojans, who have now won five contests by seven runs or more so far this season.

Preston Walsh looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, he posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April of 2024.
At the plate, Brock Iverson was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, two stolen bases, and two doubles. Peyton Seaburg was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Cary-Grove always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .567. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lake Forest only posted an OBP of .323.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Jacobs). They blew past Conant 15-3 on Saturday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Golden Eagles needed considering they were shut out in their previous match.
Cary-Grove is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-6 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.5 runs over those games. As for Jacobs, their win bumped their record up to 6-7.
Cary-Grove came out on top in a nail-biter against Jacobs in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, sneaking past 7-6. Will the Trojans repeat their success, or do the Golden Eagles have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
