The Memorial Mustangs lost against the Cy-Fair Bobcats back in November of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. Memorial fell 27-17 to Cy-Fair. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Memorial in their matchups with Cy-Fair: they've now lost six in a row.
Despite the loss, Memorial still got an impressive performance from William Van wie, who picked up 126 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Even if they lost, Memorial's defense still kept up the pressure with four sacks. In that department, Isaac Richardson was the leader with two sacks.
Cy-Fair got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Owen Carter out in front who picked up 133 receiving yards and two touchdowns. The team also got some help courtesy of Trey Owens, who threw for 227 yards and two touchdowns.
Memorial now has a losing record at 5-6. As for Cy-Fair, the win (which was their ninth in a row) raised their record to 10-1.
Memorial will square off against Heights at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Heights knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past five matchups -- so hopefully Memorial likes a good challenge. As for Cy-Fair, they will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Bellaire at 7:00 p.m. Bellaire will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 904th, while Cy-Fair is ranked 269th).
