Southwest Prairie recap September 10, 2013
Shane Briscoe and Zachry Zamora provided fans with a highlight when they connected against Providence Catholic. The longest such play in Southwest Prairie this season, the connection resulted in 60 yards.
Plainfield East scaled the state rankings by moving to 197 from 295 this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Bengals were able to make move up by besting Aurora West 35-12.
Steven Frank and Tyler Walsh gave Oswego a balanced attack through the air and ground last week. Frank threw for 174 yards and 2 touchdowns, while Walsh ran for 105 yards. Teammate Jeramiah Fitzpatrick added to the ground attack by rushing for 11 yards.
Frank and Walsh gave the Panthers a balanced attack in passing and rushing last week.
Walsh was the most successful running back in the league this week.
Zamora was the best receiver in Southwest Prairie this week as Minooka lost to the Celtics. Zamora tallied 9 receptions for 133 yards. Anthony Mack helped Minooka's passing attack out by catching 3 balls for 38 yards.
Frank put up the best numbers in passing as Oswego lost to Waubonsie Valley. Frank's favorite target this week was Trevor Matczak, who caught 6 passes for 111 yards.
Thanks to the talents of Frank and Walsh, Brian Cooney's team has been able to do all sorts of things on offense. Frank is tops in the league in passing with 315 yards, while Walsh has rushed for 232 yards this season. Tops in the league in receving yards is the Indians' Zamora, with 145 yards on 12 catches.
The top two teams in the league will face off this week when first place Plainfield East takes on second place Oswego East.
Fans will be thrilled by an exciting game in the secondary when Minooka's Zamora goes up against the Panthers' Charlie Jakubowski.
There should be lots of points scored when Oswego and Paul Forsythe's team face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, the Panthers comes in having scored 48 this season, while the Indians have scored 42. Oswego scored 21 points last week as it fell to the Warriors.
Plainfield Central lost to North 48-0 last week, the largest margin of any game.
