The Big Bear Bears had already won nine in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 25.7 points), and they went ahead and made it ten on Friday. They walked away with a 72-61 win over Academy for Academic Excellence. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Brennen Berge was his usual excellent self, dropping a triple-double on 20 points, 11 rebounds, and ten steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Ryder Dolan, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 rebounds.
Big Bear has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 13 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 19-5 record this season. As for Academy for Academic Excellence, they dropped their record down to 3-18 with that loss, which was their seventh straight on the road.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Big Bear will take on University Prep at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. University Prep comes in still looking for their first win of the season. As for Academy for Academic Excellence, they will be playing at home against Hesperia Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Hesperia Christian focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 34 on Friday.
