The Union County Patriots suffered their biggest loss yet this season on Saturday. They took a serious blow against Eastern Hancock, falling 66-31. Union County was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 35-14.
Union County lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Katie McCashland, who scored 13 points along with two steals.
Union County struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only four offensive rebounds. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Eastern Hancock pulled down 11 offensive rebounds.
Eastern Hancock was led to victory by McKenzie Koch and Brooklyn Willis. Koch scored 24 points along with three steals, while Willis scored 14 points along with seven rebounds and six assists. Ruby White was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with seven rebounds.
This is the second loss in a row for Union County and nudges their season record down to 6-11. As for Eastern Hancock, they pushed their record up to 16-1 with that victory, which was their 18th straight at home dating back to last season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Union County will challenge Randolph Southern at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Randolph Southern focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 last Wednesday. As for Eastern Hancock, they will head out on the road to take on New Castle at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. New Castle will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Indiana Rankings (they are ranked 327th, while Eastern Hancock is ranked 35th).
