The Albert Gallatin Colonials had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They rang in the new year with a 73-63 victory over Laurel Highlands on Friday. The win was just what Albert Gallatin needed coming off of a 73-40 loss in their prior matchup.
Albert Gallatin's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Shymere Wilson, who scored 21 points along with three steals. Those 21 points set a new season-high mark for him. Blake White was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with seven rebounds and five steals.
Despite the loss, Laurel Highlands still got an impressive performance from Aiden Black, who scored 18 points. Black scored a full 28.6% of Laurel Highlands' points, the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Antwan Black, who scored 12 points.
Albert Gallatin's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 5-5. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.7 points per game. As for Laurel Highlands, they have fallen quite a ways from their 25-4 record last season and are now at 2-10.
Albert Gallatin will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Elizabeth Forward at 7:30 p.m. Elizabeth Forward knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past eight matchups -- so hopefully Albert Gallatin likes a good challenge. As for Laurel Highlands, they will head out on the road to face off against Belle Vernon at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Belle Vernon presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Laurel Highlands in Pennsylvania (Belle Vernon is ranked 116th, while Laurel Highlands is ranked 512th).
