Baseball Recap: St. Mary Central Catholic Gets the Win

St. Mary Central Catholic lost to Sandusky back in April of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Saturday. The Panthers walked away with an 8-4 victory over the Blue Streaks. That's two games straight that the Panthers have won by exactly four runs.

St. Mary Central Catholic let Austin Gill and Reid Wikel run wild. Gill scored two runs while going 3-for-4, while Wikel scored two runs while going 3-for-4. Those three hits gave Gill a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Leo Will, who scored a run while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances.

St. Mary Central Catholic hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their strikeout total in three consecutive matchups.

St. Mary Central Catholic's win bumped their record up to 6-2. As for Sandusky, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-4.

Looking ahead, St. Mary Central Catholic will welcome Gibsonburg at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Golden Bears will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last. As for Sandusky, they will head out on the road to challenge Edison at 4:45 p.m. on Monday. The Chargers will roll in looking for their eighth straight victory, something the Blue Streaks surely won't give up without a fight.
