Wayne has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will square off against the Piute Thunderbirds at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Thursday, Wayne beat Milford 37-28.
Wayne relied on the efforts of Raegyn Blackburn, who scored 11 points, and Makayla Jones, who scored seven points along with six rebounds and six steals.
Meanwhile, Piute had already won seven in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 16.9 points), and they went ahead and made it eight last Friday. They enjoyed a cozy 45-27 victory over Wayne.
Wayne's victory bumped their record up to 9-6. As for Piute, their win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-3.
Things could have been worse for Wayne, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 45-27 loss to Piute in their previous matchup last Friday. Can Wayne avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
