Bridge Creek extended their losing streak to three on Tuesday, dropping them down to 1-11. They took a 9-6 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Kingfisher Yellowjackets. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Yellowjackets this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 18-17 on Monday.
Bridge Creek saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jake Gerken, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Rodrigo Ortega also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.
As for Kingfisher, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.1 runs over those games.
On Kingfisher's side, Kaden Cline made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over six innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits. Cline was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Carter Stephenson, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Collin Farrar, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs.
Looking ahead, Bridge Creek will be playing in front of their home fans against Fort Cobb-Broxton at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday. The Mustangs' pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so the Bobcats' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Kingfisher, they will head out on the road to square off against Elk City at 2:30 p.m. on Friday.
