Baseball Recap: Portland Triumphs

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Portland ultimately got the result they hoped for on Wednesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-6 win over the Station Camp Bison. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Panthers as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Cayden Lane made a splash no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March of 2025. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base. Portland is undefeated when Lane posts two or more runs, but 1-7 otherwise.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Austin Holmes, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Braden Callis was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Portland's win bumped their record up to 5-7. As for Station Camp, they now have a losing record of 5-6.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Portland will take on Cane Ridge at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Station Camp, they will take on Chicago Hope Academy in a tournament on Thursday.
