Basketball Recap: Nadeya King Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Columbus

Spencer won the last time they faced Columbus and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Spencer Greenwave took down the Columbus Blue Devils 54-40.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Spencer to victory, but perhaps none more so than Nadeya King, who almost dropped a double-double on 19 points and nine boards. That's the most points King has posted since back in January of 2024. Another player making a difference was Alexandria Berk, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 12 rebounds.

Spencer was working as a unit and finished the game with 11 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Columbus only racked up five assists.

Columbus lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Alyna Gilbert, who posted 14 points and eight boards. Gilbert has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last five times she's played. Harmony Franklin was another key player, putting up 11 points along with five rebounds and five steals.

Spencer has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 9-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.3 points per game. As for Columbus, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last nine contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-10 record this season.

Spencer will head out to square off against Sumter County at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. Columbus has already played their next game, a 67-10 win against Kendrick on the 16th.
