The Southeast Golden Buffalo came tearing into Tuesday's game with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 34.7 points) and they left with even more momentum. They snuck past Northwest with a 76-72 victory. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
When it comes to explaining why Northwest lost, one person who can't be blamed is Jerome Henderson. Despite the final result, he almost dropped a double-double on 24 points and nine rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Henderson has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Elijah Benning, who scored 16 points along with eight rebounds and six assists.
Southeast's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-7-1. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 78.5 points per game. As for Northwest, their loss dropped their record down to 12-4.
Southeast has the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Heights at 7:30 p.m. on February 9th. Heights knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past 14 matches -- so hopefully Southeast likes a good challenge. As for Northwest, they will head out on the road to challenge East at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Northwest is facing East at the right time seeing as East is stuck on a five-game losing streak.
