Roosevelt is 0-10 against Woodhaven since April of 2021 but things could change on Wednesday. The Bears will head out to challenge the Warriors at 4:30 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Roosevelt will roll into the game after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up two runs on Thursday, then bounced right back against Anderson on Monday. The Bears put the hurt on the Titans with a sharp 12-1 victory. The Bears haven't had any issues with the Titans recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.
Ellie Isenegger was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run over seven innings pitched. Isenegger was also big at the plate, firing off two home runs, four runs, and five RBI while going 3-for-4. Those two home runs gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Xzaila Ellis, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. That double was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Devlyn Massengill, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
Roosevelt kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, Woodhaven entered their tilt with Edsel Ford on Monday with six consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with seven. They blew past the Thunderbirds 16-1.
Like Roosevelt, Woodhaven also got a great game from a two-way player: Gracie Dixon. On the mound, she didn't allow a single hit and allowed only one earned run over four innings pitched. Dixon has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two hits in six consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles.
In other batting news, Ariel Krueger was a standout: she went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, two doubles, and two RBI. Brooklynn Bartos was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double.
Woodhaven pushed their record up to 11-3 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.6 runs over those games. As for Roosevelt, their record is now 9-4.
Wednesday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Roosevelt hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .414. However, it's not like Woodhaven struggles in that department as they've averaged .403. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Roosevelt suffered a grim 16-0 defeat to Woodhaven when the teams last played on April 7th. Can the Bears avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
