Volleyball Recap: Athol's Losing Streak Snapped at Six Games

Athol can bid farewell to their six-game losing streak thanks to their game on Friday. They came out on top against the Ware Indians by a score of 3-1. This was payback for the Bears, who suffered a 3-0 defeat the last time these two teams met.

If you add up the scores from across all four sets (96-94) Athol actually scored fewer points, but in the end it didn't matter. The final score came out to 25-22, 29-27, 15-25, 25-22.

Warren Taylor paced Athol's offense, picking up ten kills. Taylor got some help from Landon Collins and his 18 assists. Finally, Taylor was also a dominant defender, finishing with a team-high three blocks.

Athol's victory was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-4 and their overall record up to 2-6. As for Ware, they are on a four-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Athol will challenge rival Springfield Central/Commerce/Putnam/Renaissance/Springfield Science and Tech at 5:15 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Ware is set to take on their familiar foe John J. Duggan Academy at 5:15 p.m. on Monday.
