The Wilder Wildcats will face off against the Notus Pirates at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Wilder will bounce into Wednesday's contest after beating Greenleaf Friends Academy, who they had gone 1-8 against in their nine prior meetings. The Wildcats blew past the Grizzlies 26-10 on Tuesday.
N. Escutia made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over 4.1 innings while giving up just two earned runs off one hit. Those earned runs were her first of the season. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 1-for-4.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on A. Scott, who fired off six RBI, four doubles, and three runs while going 4-for-5. Another player making a difference was S. Longest, who scored five runs and stole a base while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Notus). They put the hurt on Idaho City with a sharp 28-16 win on Monday. The game was the first time the Pirates have beaten the Wildcats on their field since May 13, 2022.
Cierra Norris was a standout: she went a perfect 6-for-6 with five runs, two stolen bases, and five RBI. Those five runs gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Trinity Willes, who got on base in all six of her plate appearances with four runs, two stolen bases, and four RBI.
Notus always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .776. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Wilder's victory ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-4. As for Notus, they now have a winning record of 6-5.
Wilder suffered a grim 25-11 defeat to Notus in their previous meeting back in March. Will the Wildcats have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other softball content.
