The Baker Gators will head out on the road to face off against the West Florida Baptist Academy Conquerors at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
On Tuesday, things could have been worse for Baker, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 45-27 loss to Rocky Bayou Christian. Baker has struggled against Rocky Bayou Christian recently, as their contest on Tuesday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
Meanwhile, West Florida Baptist Academy earned a 53-46 victory over Gulf Pointe Latin on Tuesday. 53 seems to be a good number for West Florida Baptist Academy as the team scooped up a win with the same number of points in their previous game.
West Florida Baptist Academy's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Makenna Enfinger, who scored 14 points along with 5 rebounds, and Olivia Pearce, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 10 rebounds. That makes it nine consecutive games in which Pearce has scored at least 25% of West Florida Baptist Academy's points. Addison Johnson was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with 5 rebounds.
Their wins lifted both teams to an identical 1-2.
Baker came up short against West Florida Baptist Academy when the teams last played back in January of 2021, falling 40-34. Can Baker avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
