After flying high against the Kaynor Tech Panthers on Monday, the Wolcott Eagles came back down to earth. Wolcott took a serious blow against Crosby on Wednesday, falling 95-27. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Wolcott in their matchups with Crosby: they've now lost seven in a row.
Leading Crosby to victory were Curtis Ellis and Micah Blackman. Ellis scored 24 points, while Blackman scored 20 points along with eight rebounds and four steals. The contest was Ellis' fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Nevin Kinsey, who scored ten points along with five steals.
Wolcott's loss dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Crosby, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-1.
Wolcott will head out on the road to face off against Woodland Regional on Friday. Woodland Regional knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past seven matchups -- so hopefully Wolcott likes a good challenge. As for Crosby, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Waterbury Career Academy at 7:00 p.m. Waterbury Career Academy is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
