For the first time this season, Crest Ridge will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They will challenge the Midway Vikings at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Crest Ridge came out on top against Maranatha Christian Academy on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive eight-run sixth inning. The Cougars put the hurt on the Eagles with a sharp 16-7 victory. Considering the Cougars' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

Ethan Hollis and Jackson Hoppenthaler made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Hollis tossed four innings while giving up just two earned (and five unearned) runs off five hits. Meanwhile, Hoppenthaler pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Hollis has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season. At the plate, Hollis got on base in three of his five plate appearances with five stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI, while Hoppenthaler got on base in three of his five plate appearances with three stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Crest Ridge let Carsen Hursh and Owen Wyatt run wild. Hursh got on base in four of his five plate appearances with seven stolen bases and three runs, while Wyatt went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two doubles. Those hits were Wyatt's first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Evan Dresel, who went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.
Crest Ridge always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .533. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Maranatha Christian Academy only posted an OBP of .375.
Meanwhile, Midway earned a 7-4 win over Lakeland last Tuesday.
Crest Ridge's record is now 2-6. As for Midway, the victory got them back to even at 1-1.
Crest Ridge suffered a grim 14-4 defeat to Midway in their previous matchup back in April of 2025. Can the Cougars avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
