It was a good run, but The Frisco Raccoons unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Friday. They were beaten by Reedy 45-3. While losing is never fun, Frisco can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 239th, while Reedy is ranked 57th).
Camren Gibson threw for 63 yards on seven of 13 attempts. Jackson Voris was his top target, picking up 44 receiving yards. On the ground, Jayson Bustamante rushed for 43 yards.
The team won by holding Frisco to a paltry no rushing yards and no passing yards. A big part of that defensive dominance came down to Reedy's ability to keep the quarterback under pressure: the team laid him out four times before it was all said and done. The heavy lifting was done by Kahlil Smith and Luca Akirtava who racked up four sacks between them.
Frisco's loss dropped their record down to 6-3. As for Reedy, their victory was their third straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 9-1.
Frisco will challenge Lone Star at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Lone Star knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past seven matches -- so hopefully Frisco likes a good challenge. As for Reedy, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Heritage at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
