Softball Recap: South Warren Extends Winning Streak to Four

South Warren had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 12.7 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Saturday. They didn't even let the Meade County Green Waves on the board, marking their second-straight 10-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Spartans, who have now won 21 matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

South Warren got a great performance from Courtney Norwood as she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 11 over six innings pitched. Norwood has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in 15 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Kinleigh Russell was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two triples, two runs, and two RBI. Those two triples gave her a new career-high. Jenna Lindsey was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

South Warren was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .387. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Meade County only posted a batting average of .045.

South Warren's win bumped their record up to 26-3. As for Meade County, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 17-10 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. South Warren will face off against Allen County-Scottsville at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (the Spartans have won 11 straight at home dating back to last season, while the Patriots won eight straight on the road), something that'll have to change. As for Meade County, they will host Eastern at 6:30 p.m. on Monday.
