The Valley Forge Patriots will head out on the road to face off against the North Olmsted Eagles at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Valley Forge will be strutting in after a victory while North Olmsted will be coming in after a loss.
On Monday, Valley Forge had just enough and edged out Cornerstone Christian 2-1. The win made it back-to-back victories for Valley Forge.
Valley Forge saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brandon Beach, who went 1-for-2 with one double. That double marked the first that Beach has hit this season. Evan Tappe was another, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with two runs.
Meanwhile, North Olmsted didn't have quite enough to beat Bay on Tuesday and fell 9-7. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Eagles have suffered against the Rockets since March 26, 2016.
Tyler Zatta made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Kody Schneid, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
North Olmsted has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-5 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.5 runs over those games. As for Valley Forge, the win got them back to even at 3-3.
North Olmsted's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Wednesday. Valley Forge has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.5 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for North Olmsted, though, as they've been averaging only 3.9 strikeouts. Will Valley Forge keep running through batters, or will the Eagles buck the trend?
Valley Forge couldn't quite finish off North Olmsted in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 and fell 11-9. Can the Patriots avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
