Somerset Academy is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Wednesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Jensen Beach a 1-0 shutout.
The result came thanks to Caitlyn Diaz's shutout, as she gave up just a hit and racked up 17 Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up a single earned run in six consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Somerset Academy saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Katie Bailey, who went 1-for-4 with one double.
Meanwhile, Key West waltzed into their game on Wednesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They were the clear victors by a 15-0 margin over Lourdes Academy. The Conchs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 contests by six runs or more this season.
Brianna Brenner looked comfortable as she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Charlie Bracher, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Arianna Garcia, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Key West kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 12 hits in three consecutive matchups.
Somerset Academy now has a winning record of 13-12. As for Key West, their record is now 15-9.
