Flagstaff hasn't had much luck against Saguaro recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Eagles will square off against the Sabercats. Both teams are coming into the match red-hot, with Flagstaff sitting on seven straight victories and Saguaro on four.
Flagstaff is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Monday. They won by a run and slipped past Deer Valley 5-4. That's two games straight that the Eagles have won by just one run.
Cullen Callander was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Brody Johnson, who went 2-for-4 with one triple and one RBI.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Flagstaff kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are a perfect 13-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
ALA - Queen Creek typically has all the answers at home, but on Monday Saguaro proved too difficult a challenge. They were the clear victors by a 16-10 margin over the Patriots. Saguaro's win was all the more impressive since the Patriots were averaging only 3.63 runs allowed on the season.
Saguaro got a massive performance out of Alain Gomez, who went 3-for-5 with one home run, six RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI Gomez has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Kyle Miiller, who went 3-for-5 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base.
Saguaro's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 17-11-1. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. As for Flagstaff, their victory bumped their record up to 21-9.
Flagstaff's speedy runners might be the difference in Wednesday's contest. The Eagles have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.7 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Saguaro, though, as they've been averaging only 1.2 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Flagstaff continue to outrun the ball?
