Greenwood Christian Academy had lost three straight at home, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 8-8 to make it four. They came up short against the Pike Red Devils, falling 8-0. The Cougars were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Red Devils apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.
Greenwood Christian Academy saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Caden Camden, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base.
As for Pike, they moved to 7-6 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak. Considering they have won five matches by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
On Pike's side, Jimquell Young, Jr and Lincoln Sigmund made a big impact while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Young, Jr tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Sigmund didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over five innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Pike is 4-2 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 3-4 otherwise. At the plate, Young, Jr got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two doubles, one stolen base, and one run, while Sigmund went 2-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Those two doubles gave Young, Jr a new career-high.
In other batting news, Rory Weaver was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. He has become a key player for Pike: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 1-6 otherwise.
Coming up, Greenwood Christian Academy will be playing at home against Greenwood at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Pike, they will be taking part in a tournament against Lawrence Central at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
