The Superior Panthers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their eighth straight loss. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 36-10 walloping at the hands of Duncan. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Superior of the 34-11 loss they experienced in the two teams' previous head-to-head fixture back in January of 2023.
Yeritzel Romero was Superior's leading scorer, having posted five points.
Stephanie Lopez held things down on the boards with eight rebounds.
Duncan's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Paisley Patton, who scored eight points. The team also got some help courtesy of Emily Kempton, who scored nine points.
Superior's defeat was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 1-19. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 14.8 points per game. As for Duncan, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 15-8 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Superior and the Lobos will face off at 5:30 p.m. on January 30th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. As for Duncan, they will head out on the road to challenge the Longhorns at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: San Simon has struggled recently with ten defeats in a row, while the Wildkats will arrive with three straight wins.
