After losing to the Destin Sharks the last time they met, the South Walton Seahawks decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. South Walton was the clear victor by a 66-43 margin over Destin. Given South Walton's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 186th, while Destin is ranked 401st), the result on Friday wasn't entirely unexpected.
South Walton had a senior duo take command as Brock Ward scored 22 points and Jaden Robinson scored 16 points along with four steals. Robinson continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last four games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Camron Titus, who scored six points.
Destin lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Tyler Flynt, who scored ten points. Another player making a difference was Decorian Champion, who scored 11 points along with eight rebounds.
South Walton is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 16-8 record this season. As for Destin, their defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 12-13.
South Walton will square off against Bay at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Bay has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 400 points over their last six contests. Destin does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
