Valiant Cross Academy was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Bessemer Academy apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in October of 2022.
Bessemer Academy's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Tyseon Smith, who rushed for 111 yards on only 12 carries, and also picked up 37 receiving yards. Luke Turner was another key contributor, throwing for 156 yards and three touchdowns.
Valiant Cross Academy's defeat was their ninth straight at home (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 0-8. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 8.9 points per game. As for Bessemer Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 4-6.
Valiant Cross Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Bessemer Academy will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Cornerstone Christian at 7:00 p.m. One thing working in Cornerstone Christian's favor is that they have now posted big point totals every time they've taken the field this season.
