Marbury proved they can win big on Tuesday (they won by 26) but on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Elmore County 48-45. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win Marbury has posted yet this season.
Marbury got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was DJ Graham out in front who scored 11 points along with nine rebounds and two steals. That's the first time this season that Graham pulled down eight or more rebounds. Jacob Driver was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with eight rebounds.
Montevallo is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 12 games, which provided a nice bump to their 12-5 record this season. As for Marbury, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-9.
Everything came up roses for Montevallo against Marbury in their previous matchup back in January of 2023 as the squad secured a 83-56 victory. With Montevallo ahead 51-25 at the half, the match was all but over already.
