The Eastside Spartans's 24-6 record from last season is now well into the rear view mirror after another tough outing. They took a 61-49 hit to the loss column at the hands of Tennessee on Saturday. While losing is never fun, Eastside can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 221st in Virginia, while Tennessee is ranked 82nd in Tennessee).
Tennessee had a senior duo take command as Anna kate Kinch scored 15 points along with six rebounds and Mazzy Wilson scored 12 points. The game was Kinch's fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Addi Moore, who scored ten points.
This is the second loss in a row for Eastside and nudges their season record down to 2-4. As for Tennessee, their victory bumped their record up to 10-5.
Eastside will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Thomas Walker at 6:30 p.m. on January 2, 2024.
