Basketball Recap: 21st Century Charter Continues Home Dominance on Saturday

21st Century Charter had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 23.5 points) and they went ahead and made it five on Saturday. They snuck past the Indianapolis Crispus Attucks Tigers with a 70-66 victory. This was payback for the Cougars, who suffered an 84-65 defeat the last time these two teams met.

21st Century Charter's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Lemetrius Williams led the charge by almost dropping a double-double on 21 points and nine rebounds. The contest was Williams' fourth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Terrence Hayes, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 11 rebounds.

Several Tigers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Chris Hurt, who went 7 of 14 on his way to 18 points in addition to seven assists and three steals. Hurt is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last seven games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Dezmon Briscoe, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 12 boards.

21st Century Charter's win was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-2. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 33.5 points. As for Indianapolis Crispus Attucks, their loss dropped their record down to 8-5.

21st Century Charter and Indianapolis Crispus Attucks should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Indiana Rankings. 21st Century Charter (ranked 64th) will meet Calumet New Tech (ranked 317th) at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Similarly, Indianapolis Crispus Attucks (ranked 33rd) will meet Indianapolis Washington (ranked 223rd) at 7:30 p.m. on January 29th.
