The Sherwood Warriors had already won ten in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 29.7 points), and they went ahead and made it 11 on Thursday. They walked away with a 54-41 win over Kennedy. Given Sherwood's advantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 74th, while Kennedy is ranked 202nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Sherwood's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Savannah Weisman, who scored eight points along with 12 rebounds and six steals. Weisman has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Avery Graham, who scored 11 points along with six rebounds and five steals.
Sherwood pushed their record up to 13-2 with that victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.5 points per game. As for Kennedy, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-6.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Sherwood will face off against Gaithersburg at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Gaithersburg is coming into the contest on a four-game losing streak. Kennedy will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Quince Orchard at 6:00 p.m. on February 20th.
