The Thomas Jefferson Vikings's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fifth straight loss. They took a hard 53-38 fall against Deep Run. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Thomas Jefferson has scored all season.
Despite the loss, Thomas Jefferson still got an impressive performance from Cameron Sampson, who scored 16 points. Another player making a difference was Torel Clark, who scored eight points.
Deep Run got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Quentin Morgan out in front who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 11 rebounds. Morgan is on a roll when it comes to blocks, as he's now posted two or more in the last nine games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kemji Onyiuke, who scored eight points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Thomas Jefferson's defeat was their third straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 3-7. As for Deep Run, their win bumped their record up to 6-7.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Thomas Jefferson will square off against Hermitage at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Hermitage presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Thomas Jefferson in Virginia (Hermitage is ranked 42nd, while Thomas Jefferson is ranked 264th). As for Deep Run, they will head out on the road to take on Glen Allen at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
