The Roy Royals scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Wednesday. They snuck past Viewmont with a 77-71 victory. The victory was nothing new for Roy as they're now sitting on five straight.
Roy got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Bronson Belnap out in front who dropped a double-double on 20 points and ten assists. That makes it four consecutive games in which Belnap has scored at least 25% of Roy's points. Another player making a difference was Dahlen Pontius, who scored 16 points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Several Vikings players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Max Draper, who scored 15 points along with six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Cache Tuia, who scored 17 points.
Roy's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-4. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.5 points per game. As for Viewmont, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-9.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Roy has the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Northridge at 7:00 p.m. on January 5th. Northridge is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak. As for Viewmont, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Bountiful at 7:00 p.m.
