Can't Touch This
Mountain View's 48 - 33 win over Sandy last week had a lot to do with the leadership of senior Jonas Larson. Larson ran for 276 yards and also punched in four touchdowns. That performance made Larson one of the best players in the power rankings last week.
This Week's Big Showdown
The showdown between Central Catholic (10th in the MaxPreps state rankings) and Eastside Catholic (2nd) shaped up to be more of a takedown. Central Catholic has to be hurting after a devastating 49 - 26 defeat at the hands of Eastside Catholic. Central Catholic plummeted four positions in the power rankings after the loss.
Movin on Up
Silverton was the better team in every quarter against South Albany last week and consequently the better team overall. Silverton took its game against South Albany by a confident 56 - 23 score. Silverton did have the odds in its favor, but the team did even better than the MaxPreps state rankings indicated. The team's efforts were enough to boost its power ranking by nine, which was the most sizeable gain made by any team in the rankings.
