Basketball Recap: Central Comes Up Short + How To Watch

If Central was riding high fresh off their 79-24 takedown of Furlow Charter School back in December of 2025, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Hawks fell just short of the Schley County Wildcats by a score of 72-70 on Tuesday. Hawks fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team has lost against the Wildcats since Tuesday.

When it comes to explaining why Central lost, don't look at Brannon Bussey. Despite the final result, he posted 27 points. Bussey is crushing it when it comes to points: he's scored at least 15 every time he's taken the court this season. Jamarion Williams was another key player, putting up 14 points.

Schley County's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Amir Nelson led the charge by almost dropping a triple-double with 12 points, nine rebounds, and nine assists. What's more, Nelson posted three steals, the most he's had since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Jalon Solomon, who dropped a double-double with 11 points and 16 boards.

Central has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-4 record this season. As for Schley County, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-6.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Central will venture away from home to challenge Webster County at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Hawks will be up against the Bobcats' rather soft defense (which has allowed 67.57 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Schley County, they will head out to take on Chattahoochee County at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Wildcats will need to watch out since the Panthers have now posted at least 55 points in their last ten contests.
