Two dominant in Jonathan Paylor and Jakarey Gillis are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Cummings Cavaliers will be playing at home against the North Moore Mustangs at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Both teams are coming into the matchup red-hot, with Cummings sitting on six straight victories and North Moore on four.
Last Friday, Cummings strolled past Northwood with points to spare, taking the game 48-29.
Paylor continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 404 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 17.6 yards per carry. Paylor was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 65 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Devin Witherspoon, who rushed for 169 yards and two touchdowns on only 11 carries.
Meanwhile, North Moore blew past Graham, posting a 42-6 victory at home. The result was nothing new for North Moore, who have now won six games by 26 points or more so far this season.
Among those leading the charge was Nathan Rogers, who rushed for 148 yards and two touchdowns on only nine carries. Gillis was another key contributor, rushing for 102 yards and a touchdown.
Their wins bumped Cummings to 7-1 and North Moore to 6-2.
Monday's game might be decided on the ground as these two are both standouts in the run game. Cummings has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 338.6 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like North Moore struggles in that department as they've been even better at 365.5 per game. It's looking like Monday's match might have some serious battles in the trenches.
Cummings couldn't quite finish off North Moore in their previous meeting back in October of 2022 and fell 28-25. Will Cummings have more luck at home instead of on the road?
