Softball Recap: HCYA Wins Going Away Against Cross Roads

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Oak Ridge, HCYA was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They were the clear victor by a 12-3 margin over the Cross Roads Bobcats. That looming 12-3 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for HCYA yet this season.

Taegan Lermann made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out seven batters over six innings while giving up three earned runs off six hits. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April of 2024. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. She also put up a stolen base, which washer first of the season.

In other batting news, HCYA got a massive performance out of Yanaia Scott, who scored three runs while going 2-for-3. Those three runs gave Scott a new career-high. Kiran Kyham was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 3-for-4.

HCYA's win bumped their record up to 3-1-1.

Coming up, HCYA will take on Lamar Consolidated in a tournament on Thursday. As for Cross Roads, they will square off against Bay City at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
