The Lexington Catholic Knights put another one in the bag on Monday to keep their perfect season alive. They came out on top against St. Thomas Aquinas by a score of 68-58. Despite the victory, that was the fewest points Lexington Catholic has scored all season.
Despite the loss, St. Thomas Aquinas saw an underclassman step up: Drake (DJ) Sandi scored 14 points along with five assists and five steals. The contest was Sandi's third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Ayden (AJ) Ambrose, who scored 11 points along with three steals.
Lexington Catholic's win bumped their record up to 8-0. As for St. Thomas Aquinas, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-2.
Lexington Catholic will finish 2023 at home by hosting Taylor County at 6:00 p.m. on December 27th. St. Thomas Aquinas won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Albany Academy for Boys at 7:00 p.m. on December 19th. Albany Academy for Boys will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in their respective state's rankings (they are ranked 114th in New York, while St. Thomas Aquinas is ranked seventh in Florida).
